The Presbyterian with main altar and famous Pilsen Madonna from the second half of the 14th century is the master work of European Gothic sculpture. It has been carved from arenaceous marl, it measures 1.34 meters in height and is one of the rarest Gothic memorials anywhere in our country. IN 1993, Pope John Paul II created a Bishopric in Pilsen, and St. Bartholomew’s Church was renamed a Cathedral.
