Pilsen is a town with many years of theatrical tradition. Dramas, ballet, operas, operettas and musicals are shown there. Moreover, Pilsen hosts the International Theatre Festival every September. It brings interesting shows from all over the world onto the town’s theatre stages as well as into the streets. The J. K. Tyl Theatre also has a special added value for the country - the “Kde domov můj” song, the Czech national anthem, was played on the theatre’s stage for the very first time… And Pilsen is the birthplace of two of the most famous Czech puppets - Spejbl and Hurvínek.
