The Zoological And Botanical Gardens Of The City Of Pilsen

Near the Lochotín amphitheatre, beneath the Vinice housing estate, there is a unique natural complex – the Zoological and Botanical Gardens of the city of Pilsen, which is the second oldest zoological garden in Bohemia. The interestingly structured terrain with numerous bodies of water imitates the natural environment of a wide range of animals, of which there are 170 species. New runs have been constructed – the second largest bear garden in Europe, the Monitor lizard terrarium, the monkey islands and the new runs for the tigers and lions. The Lüftnerka village farm, with its collection of domestic animals, the Botanical Garden and the Botanical greenhouse, with its collection of succulent plants of European significance and a Japanese garden are all a part of the Zoological Gardens.
